Some weeks ago, I had the chance to join an event from John Stepper. John was presenting his method, ‘Working Out Loud’ to all interested employees from my company. You have never heard about Working Out Loud?
John Stepper’s definition:
“Working Out Loud starts with making your work visible in such a way that it might help others. When you do that – when you work in a more open, connected way – you can build a purposeful network that makes you more effective and provides access to more opportunities.”

As I have been facilitating a WOL circle since October, I was invited to the “John Stepper Live Event”. There were several events where John Stepper spoke to us. I joined the one for the circle faciliators and the big event for all company members. It was very exciting and quite inspiring.During the event for the faciliators, John shortly presented the method again and gave us the opportunity to talk about how our circles are running and asking questions.
For me, the most important and impressive thing were some tiny little words he also uses in his book. They were printed on the big screen in the venue.
We are not bad at it. We are just not good at it yet!
This is great! Just take a minute and think about these words. They are deeply inspiring. And you can put them into every aspect of your life or career. Whatever you are trying to achieve, these words will help you with it. No matter if you are struggeling or if you are failing with an issue, these words tell you that no matter what will happen, you can achieve it. Just take your time, make your effort and go for your goal. Isn’t that great? What I am trying to say is, nearly everyone of us has struggled with a goal or a plan we have had. It is hard in the beginning, and finding a starting point is also hard, while leaving your comfort zone is even harder. But if you keep in mind that you are not bad at something, but only not good at it yet, it will give you the motivation to keep on going and to work for your set goal.
Maybe you are trying to work out more, or learning a language or completing a special task in business – don’t be to hard to yourself and don’t give up. Just think about John’s words and try to move forward. Every day a little step. Or as I like to say: Step by Stepper 🙂
